Pause

At 47, I pause to wonder,
“What is happening to me?” I pondered.
Every month was a disaster of weight gain,
And the hair fall added to the strain.
Everyone near and dear experienced mood swings,
Which caused me an alarming ring.
An earlier desire for Indian sweets and snacks
Was digging a pit in my money bags.
To add to everything, the weather also supported my hot flashes,
In all my actions, I was Wonder Woman and moved like a flash.
Everyone called me fatso, mottu, hungry, and angry mother,
I couldn’t explain this stage of my life as a mother.
I paused for a while to understand
That it was a stage of life, from perimenopause to menopause.
Now I don’t take too much stress,
I exercise, eat well, and take some rest.
Thank You, Almighty Father, for the cause,
Finally, I have learned to Pause.
… Shalom …
