INNOCENCE

You've lost me somewhere -
over the mountains' rumpled flanks
high up above many starry skies -
one hydrogen atom at a time…

Like a squirrel sprinting from sunlight to shade,
you escaped from my leaking heart.
You grew, in depth and detail
programmed to perfection, an awesome lad!

The last I saw you was as a rondure in space
suspended in gravity, ever on a spin.
You were no more the balloon of gold
humming on night's plutonian shores.

Ah! Now I pursue you like a hound
vaulting over hedges and hill tops,
open-mouthed, buoyant, awed - perhaps
my final assault on you: my innocence.

The poem is one ecstatic flight of the poet in search of innocence. Great piece of art. Loved it
